When we moved back to Oklahoma from Europe, hitting up the OKC Farmers Public Market was high on my list of what I wanted to do when I got here. We waited two months until the weather turned a bit closer to spring to have our first market day. Here are our favorite things to do in the Farmers Market District in OKC.

Where to Stay in Oklahoma City
Many of you guys are probably OKC locals, or you live in Oklahoma. However, I know some of you guys are out-of-towners (or even out-of-staters) looking to plan your trip to the Big Friendly, here’s where I recommend you stay.
These are suggestions for where to stay in each budget category, plus an Airbnb recommendation. Recs are based on listed prices at the time, but keep in mind they can fluctuate based on availability, so always double-check the linked-to website for pricing for your exact dates.
Best Budget Option (Under $75 a Night)
If you are looking for a budget option near downtown, the Motel 6 Oklahoma City-Bricktown is two miles from Chesapeake Arena, and its location near I-40 means it is a convenient drive to most parts of OKC. I personally like to stay at Motel 6’s that are updated (like this one) when I need to pinch pennies or travel with my dog (most are pet-friendly).
Check availability and rates here.
Best Mid-Range Option ($75-150 a Night)
If you love historic hotels (which I do!) the Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City is a special place to stay if you want to swing it. With a seriously Instagrammable lobby, the perfect location, and gorgeous rooms, this hotel would be far pricier if it was in a different city.
Check availability and rates here.
Best Luxury Option ($150 a Night or More)
If you want a unique stay with a modern twist, check into the 21c Museum Hotel. The rooms are something really special, with a level of design rarely seen in a hotel. There’s an onsite spa if you want to relax, but the highlight (for me, at least) is the artwork on display.

The Best Things to Do in the Farmers Market District
In no particular order…
Go to the OKC Farmers Public Market

Of course, you’ll want to start at the Farmers Public Market proper if you are in the district on Saturday mornings. The market is open every Saturday from 9am until 2pm.
According to the market:
In an effort to restore the traditional public farmers market to the Historic Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market, we offer a Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. These gatherings feature produce, meat, homemade goods, and value-added items, like honey, and baked goods, and more. The open market is a year-round affair and located on the first floor of the Historic Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market.

Unlike some farmers markets, this one centers more on artisans and local producers rather than strictly produce. You’ll find catfish, salsa, and chicken alongside veggies and fruits.
Check for Special Events

When we were there on Saturday, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was in town, but this coming Saturday the Planters Nutmobile is coming. You never know what kind of wacky or fun event is happening during the market, and there are also live shows and other events during the week.
For up-to-date info, follow the OKC Farmers Market Instagram account @okcfarmersmarket.
Visit the Antique Mall

Operating since 1971, the Antique Mall is a series of owner-operated shops. Unlike the Farmers Market next store, the Antique Mall is open more than just Saturday mornings. You can come by Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 am until 4 pm and Sundays from noon until 4 pm.

You’ll find everything from jewelry to dollhouses to Soviet military apparel. Just remember that it’s not one big store, so you’ll need to check out with each vendor before moving on to the next.
Grab Brunch

After a morning at the Farmers Market, you have earned a delicious brunch! You can check out my Power House review for my take on their spicy Bloody Marys and chips and queso. Other brunch options abound, so walk around until you find a spot that piques your interest.
Or Eat at the Delmar Gardens Food Truck Park

If you’re interested in enjoying OKC’s Food Truck scene, the Delmar Gardens Food Truck Park offers options on a rotating basis. Check their schedule for who will be there during your visit.
Snap a Pic at the Balloon Mural & Save the Date Mural

These cute murals are perfect for getting your OKC Instagram pics. You’ll spot them coming in from the highway.
Shop at Urban Agrarian

If you’re in the Farmers Market District and the Farmers Public Market isn’t opened, you can still buy local produce and goods. Just head to Urban Agrarian. They have two locations (the other is in Edmond), and they sell locally produced groceries. You can even order online!
