If you decide to plan a getaway to one of these great cities, here are some resources to help you get started!
First, pick up a guidebook. I use Lonely Planet when I travel in the US.
If I’m going to a national park or somewhere to hike, I will also get a Falcon hiking guide.
If you need to rent a car when you arrive, I use Discover Cars.
If you prefer to get picked up from the airport, you can pre-arrange a safe driver through Welcome Pickups.
You can book an affordable vacation photographer in many of these cities. (Use the code HISTORYFANGIRL for 10% off your first photoshoot).
You should also get a travel insurance quote – because things can happen on the road!
Direct International Flights from Oklahoma City
While it might be called Will Rogers World Airport, it is an unfortunate truth that there are currently no direct international flights from Oklahoma City.
That’s right. Sadly, you can’t fly OKC to Mexico or Belize, let alone hope for any OKC to Europe flights.
When I fly internationally from OKC or to OKC, I have had layovers in Houston, New York, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Miami.

Why are there no international flights from OKC? Oklahoma City doesn’t have Customs or Border Control, so I don’t think it’s equipped to serve as an international airport at the moment.
This could change in the future!
